Sri Lanka offers a lot of different activities from secluded beaches, to 1st century temples, to rain forest trekking, and much more! Interested in taking a safari? Yala could be your ticket with the largest concentration of leopards than any other place in the world. Or maybe elephants are your thing? Then visit Minneriya who has the largest elephant gathering than any place in the world. With a country being so diverse in different terrains, there is always something to do here!

Location

Located just off the coast of India, Sri Lanka is an ideal location to take your next holiday as there are direct flights to Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport on Sri Lankan Airlines from major cities in Europe, Australia, Middle East, and Asia. Sri Lankan Airlines also flies direct from Dallas, Chicago, Ottawa, Calgary, and Edmonton. Other direct flights include Singapore Airlines from Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific, Abu Dhabi on Etihad, Vienna on Austrian Airlines, Dubai on Emirates, Doha on Qatar Airways, and Bangkok on Thai Airways

Some Suggested Activities

Beaches

The most popular beaches are located on the southern coast. Accommodations range all the way from budget to luxury. Mount Lavinia is quite close to Colombo and can easily be done as a day trip.

Bentota Beach is perfect for a mixed variety of water activities because of the ocean on one side and the river on the other. Hikkaduwa is popular with the younger budget crowd. My favorite is heading to Sri Lanka’s lesser-known east coast that is still developing from the war. Here it is very relaxing and peaceful and the best place to watch the sun rise on the island!
