Bongwansa Temple Ceremony on Korean Memorial Day

This religious ceremony takes place every year in Seoul on a mountain top above Seoul’s most popular nightlife.   The Buddhist belief of this ceremony is to soothe the souls of the dead and lead them to be reborn in the Pure Land.  This tour was lectured by David Mason who is Korea’s foreign expert on Buddhism.  His recently published book An Encyclopaedia of Korean Buddhism is a must read!  To get to Bongwansa Temple, take the subway to Sinchon station exit #4 and then take bus #7024.
